研究実績の概要 |
When a large scale disaster strikes, people in the disaster area need to buy recovery goods from merchants. However, they face payment problems since people usually do not have enough cash and cannot make online electronic transactions via bank services due to the unavailability of communication infrastructures. This year we proposed a mobile payment system utilizing infrastructureless mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), based on smart phones, to allow users to shop in disaster areas. Specifically, we proposed an endorsement-based scheme to provide payment guarantees for all transactions and a mutual monitoring scheme to achieve transaction validity. Our mobile payment system not only prevents collusion and double spending attacks, but also has the property of light communication overheads. As validated by simulations, the proposed mobile payment system is useful in a disaster area, achieving high transaction completion ratio and is storage efficient for mobile devices. Since node mobility has great impact on delay performance, we also studied one significant mobility performance metric: the time interval between consecutive contacts of two nodes (called inter-contact time). Our study lays foundation for further examining delay performance of our mobile payment system.

理由
According to our research proposal, in the first year we will survey the literature on mobile payment systems, design overall architecture and basic functions of offline endorsement based mobile payment system and propose schemes to secure electronic transactions. By now, we have already finished designing the overall mobile payment system, identifying as many attacks that possibly occur in our system in disaster areas, proposing solutions to preventing those attacks and developing a customized simulator to validate the usability of our proposed system in a disaster area. Based on our work, we have published one paper in an international conference and three papers in domestic conferences, and are now preparing to submit an extended version of our work to one international journal.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Our future plan consists of two parts: 1) We will propose schemes to construct an effective and robust communication network utilizing drones, which are increasingly popular nowadays. With drone-based communication network, people in disaster areas can make electronic transactions with merchants either inside or outside disaster areas and merchants could also deliver goods via drones to customers. This research involves how to design a mobile payment system utilizing drone-based network, how to design a drone-based network to timely collect customer orders, and how to plan drone routes to deliver goods to customers at the lowest costs. 2) Since mobile devices used by people in disaster areas have limited battery power, transmitting data (like purchase order) when wireless channel condition is not good will waste battery power, and thus shortening the lifetime of mobile devices. Thus, another future work is to design a smart algorithm for mobile devices such that they transmit data adapting to varying wireless channel conditions.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
1)To test the usability of our proposed mobile payment system in more realistic network scenarios, we will implement our mobile payment system in the commercial simulator “Scenargie”, requiring us to buy such a commercial simulator. 2)To run such simulations of high complexity, we also need one high performance computer. 3)We plan to attend two domestic conferences and two international conferences, which involve conference registration, accommodation, food, transportation fees.
