| 研究実績の概要 |
Thanks to the Kakenhi, I have been able to order a great number of precious and rare books and films on the art of the nuclear age. I will always be grateful for this, my research definitely reached a higher level. I have been able to read books as rare as Cornelia's Hesse-Honegger The Future’s Mirror (2000), which is an out of print expensive book. Yet, thanks to the grant, I would order and read this unique book about the artist's way of representing the affect of radioactivity on insects in Chernobyl.
One particular point of my research led me, unexpectedly, to uranium mining in African countries, but also in the US, Canada, France and Japan. About this, I found very interesting, yet again, out of print Manga. This research constitutes a very important part of my book.
Thanks to the many books I could order, I have also been able to finish the first two chapters of my book and was also able to send a book proposal with MIT Press. They have been very interested in learning about Japanese art after Hiroshima, Fukushima (and other nuclear-related works). While I have no contract yet, I am currently in touch with them about the book, discussing on restructuring and editing it. This is a great achievement, I am extremely happy to have been able to reach that level.

理由
My research trip to Geneva, Switzerland, to visit the Large Hadron Collider and Art@CERN, was delayed. Because of a health problem, I could not travel there last summer as usually planned.
However, I will be leaving on the 3rd of May for London and Geneva. Not only will I give a conference in London and meet the organiser of the Art@CERN (where the organiser is based), but I will also visit the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva and meet artists that are also crucial to my research project.
The art that is produced at CERN is very unique, poetical and interesting. This will constitute an amazing addition to my book. I consider myself extremely lucky to be able to do this research now.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
For the next step, I still plan to visit Chicago's Fermi Lab and other nuclear-related artworks in Chicago. The fact that I will be able to do this study definitely helped MIT Press being interested in my book and research project.
Once this research travel is done, I will be able to complete my book. I also intend to order more books relating to the most important part of the research: the art of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There are so many artworks, manga and philosophical writings on the topic I cannot wait to read. This will complete my PhD research and take it to higher standards.
I am extremely grateful again for this unique opportunity. In the future, I hope to organise a conference (next kakenhi project) with the researchers I met during my research trip.
