研究実績の概要 |
The primary purpose of this research is to record and analyze the financial diaries of poor households in rural Cambodia. The main survey activities involved recording data from the financial diaries of randomly selected poor households in the Angkor Sar commune in the Mesang district, Prey Veng province. The data were collected between August 2016 and August 2017. During FY2017, field visits were conducted. The field visits involved survey monitoring and final confirmation. A database was constructed from the recorded financial diaries. Financial diaries include income sources, expenditure patterns, and access to finance, etc. For instance, the results from the survey illustrated that the households in the sample depend on various sources of income and a significant share of the income is remittances sent from family members that had migrated to other regions or neighboring country to find job. The results from this research were presented at the 11th Annual Conference of the Japanese Society for Cambodian Studies at Waseda University. They were also presented at a research seminar at Saitama University. The results were also published as a research paper in the Saitama University Review in 2017. The recorded financial diary database will be made publicly available for other researchers in the near future.
