研究実績の概要 |
The main research goals intended to achieve for the year 2016 (April 2016 to March 2017) were to collect required data in China, Japan, and Korea and find results based on the framed research model. Through the research activities done during the period, I as the principal researcher would like to report the following three main achievements. First, statistical analysis were done. As planned, the survey data for statistical analysis was successfully collected and the researcher could draw findings. Main findings showed how transformational leadership influences innovative behavior in that three countries and how cultural values interplay to determine the extent of transformational leadership effect on innovative behaviors in the Asian context. Second, the findings were presented in the local symposium and the international conference. From the academic activities joining conferences, the researcher could receive informative and constructive feedback from those who are not only in the same human resource management (HRM) research field and also different research field. Such feedback is now incorporated to further develop more convincing findings that could finally result in successful outputs and publications. Third, importantly, the researcher found interesting outcomes from the analysis and could raise another related and interesting research question on gender and leadership. Thus, the researcher is working on two research projects of the original project and the other spun off from the original project and have positive views on the outcomes of both projects.

理由
Progressive improvements and slight modification. The current research works are in good progress following the initial research scheme. The main work scheduled for this year was to draw first findings from the data collected in the three Asian countries, China, Korea, and Japan. While the processes of collecting data in the three different countries were tricky as being assumed, thoughtful decisions made by the researcher and the favorable and supportive research environment helped to collect required data for the analysis. The findings from the quantitative analysis were intriguing and expected to have meaningful additions to current leadership theory. Adding to this, interview data were usefully managed to interpret the findings. In spite of such good progress made, slight modification in methodology had to be made. Even if the researcher initially planned to use multi-level data, it was practically difficult to collect such data particularly in Japan due to the resource constraints. Therefore, the researcher revised the initial plan and decided to use the same level data. Even if multi-level data may be preferred by journals, considering its originality of research framework and difficulty in collecting cross-cultural data, the outputs from this research would be appreciated by academic journals. And separately, the researcher will test the research model with the multi-level data collected both in China and Korea. Although Japan’s case won’t be able to be integrated, findings from the data will be still useful to confirm and corroborate the initial findings.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The future works will be summarized as these three main research activities, 1) finalization of results, 2) completion of manuscripts 3) submission and publication of papers. 1) Finalization of results: specifically, the researcher will finalize the findings. The first outcomes were reviewed not only by the researcher, but also by academic professionals from both same and different research disciplines. Feedback and comments from those will be carefully managed and incorporated in finalizing results. Also, the interview data will be effectively used to give thoughtful and fruitful interpretation of findings. 2) Completion of manuscripts: based on the confirmed results, manuscripts will be prepared and completed. Such completed manuscripts will be presented at conferences or intensive research symposium to develop them further for journal submissions. 3) Submission and publication of papers: the most refined versions of manuscripts will be reviewed by colleagues who are in same research field and native speakers to have them almost ready for submission. After final careful check, the manuscripts will be submitted to international business and leadership related journals such as leadership quarterly or the international journal of human resource management.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
1) Saving in expenses of data collection: This is because some of interviewees and companies voluntarily participated in the data collection. Also, the expenses paid to the participants couldn’t be documented due to the different cultural norm regarding the ways of interviews and survey collection. 2) Cancellation of trip to China: The researcher had to cancel the business trip to China due to the flight cancellation from typhoon. Due to those reasons aforementioned, some expenses were saved and transferred to the next year.

The unpaid and saved research expenses will be efficiently managed to enhance research activities. The researcher will use the expenses to inform and develop the current research by joining international academic symposium or paper develop development workshop. Such activities are important to convince the findings of potential readers and enhance readability of the manuscripts. The researcher is sure and optimistic such that those research activities will help to lead the research findings to successful publications.
