研究実績の概要 |
In Fiscal Year 2015, we have made two important progress on this project.
(1) We have generated the multi-mode entangled state in experiment. The multi-mode entangled state has a comb structure, which is a qudit state in frequency-domain. The results were summarized in paper which has been posted on arXiv:1603.07887 and also submitted to a journal. The title of our paper is: Generation and distribution of high-dimensional frequency-entangled qudits. In this work, we demonstrate a novel scheme to generate frequency-entangled qudits with dimension number higher than 10 and to distribute them over optical fibers of 15 km in total length. This scheme combines the technique of spectral engineering of biphotons generated by spontaneous parametric down-conversion and the technique of spectrally resolved Hong-Ou-Mandel interference. We characterized the comb-like spectral correlation structures of the qudits by time of arrival measurement and correlated spectral intensity measurement. The generation and distribution of the distinct entangled frequency modes may be useful for quantum cryptography, quantum metrology, quantum remote synchronization, as well as fundamental test of stronger violation of local realism.
(2) Using the similar technique, we demonstrated a spectrally resolved Hong-Ou-Mandel interference between independent sources. This result was published on Optics Express Vol. 23, pp. 28836-28848 (2015).

理由
We have basically finished the main task of our original plan. In Fiscal Year 2015, we have already constructed the fiber spectrometer. Also, we measured the spectrally resolved HOMI with fiber spectrometer, and compared it with the theoretical simulation. We have summarized our results in two papers:"Spectrally resolved Hong-Ou-Mandel interference between independent sources" and "Generation and distribution of high-dimensional frequency-entangled qudits".
We need to emphasize that we used the name of "quantum discrete frequency combs" in our initial plan, but later we find "high-dimensional frequency-entangled qudits" is a more proper name. Therefore, we adopted the name of "qudits" in our recent papers.

In Fiscal Year 2016, we will expand our research to the Fourier transformation in time domain and frequency domain using our frequency entangled state, as planed in our initial scheme.
