Exploring the various applications of conjugated polymers requires the systematic studies of their physical properties as a function of doping density, which consequently calls for the precise control of their doping density. In this project, we have developed a novel solid-state photoinduced charge-transfer reaction. With this approach, the carrier density inside conjugated polymer films can be precisely controlled over more than three orders by controlling the UV-irradiation time. The carrier density, carrier mobility, and Seebeck coefficient at different doping levels could be extracted from a single device exposed to different durations of UV irradiation. This approach is also useful for developing applications requiring patterned, large-area conducting polymers.
