研究実績の概要 |
i) Previous collaboration with New York University and the joint-organization of the "Cosmos, East and West" conference (Feb 27, 2017) served as the preparation for the Kyoto University International Symposium in Kyoto (ICTSA 2017, Oct 25-28). http://wdc2.kugi.kyoto-u.ac.jp/ictsa2017/ ii) A database was created based on the archival work at Brown University and American Philosophical Society. This includes entries not reported in previous inventory. A feasibility study concerning further possibilities of digitalization of Pingree's CESS was produced, in discussion with Brown University and a team of international collaborators. iii) First report from the collaborative Gargasamhitaa workgroup was published in the peer-reviewed journal "History of Science in South Asia" 5.1. Members included Bill Mak (PI), Yano Michio (Kyoto Sangyo), Kenneth Zysk (Copenhagen), Marko Geslani (Emory). The report provides the most updated review on the research done on this text, considered one of the oldest extant astral texts in Sanskrit (c. first century CE).
