本研究は、地球規模観測情報を小流域規模での水文水資源情報へ変換するダウンスケーリング技術の深化、開発を目的とするものである。具体的には、ダウンスケーリングに関する現状技術の相互比較を中心に、その可能性と限界の明確化、改善を行い、それに基づいて、総合技術として、新たなダウンスケーリング技術を提示する。これまでに、以下のような研究課題に取り組むとともに、国内・国際学会等において企画した特別セッションPUBセッション)を通じて、得られた研究成果を広く水研究者コミュニティーにアピールした。・無観測地域への流量確率分布の移送手法の開発・地形指標に着目した分布型物理水文モデルの移送可能性の検討・メソ数値予報モデルGPVを利用した準リアルタイム流量予測・人工影響を考慮できる地球規模水文モデルの開発・アジア地域における観測流域を対象としたブラインドテスト最終的に、個別研究で取り組んできた「予測不確実性の軽減」に関する研究成果をミャンマーのイラワジ河流域に適用し、水文予測と現地調査に基づく検証の結果から、現時点での予測不確実性のレベル、過去2年間での技術的進展(精度向上)の評価を行った。また、ミャンマーの水研究トレーニングセンター及び農業潅漑省と共同でMyanmar-Japan Bilateral Workshop on "Predictions of Ungauged Basins (PUB) for lmproved River Basin Management"を開催し、PUB-jpの研究成果を紹介するとともに、流域管理へのPUB研究成果の応用について意見交換を行った。
