This year's aim is to develop a general method for producing mesoporous oxide nanosheets using MOFs as sacrificial templates. We demonstrated the general preparation of mesoporous 2D metal-doped Co3O4 nanosheets using MOFs as templates/precursors, including Cu-BTC, Co-BTC, MOF-808 (Zr-BTC) and Fe-BTC. The resulting 2D metal-doped Co3O4 nanosheets exhibited relatively large specific surface areas of up to 120 m2 g-1 with narrow pore size distribution in the mesoporous range. More importantly, the pore size distribution could be controlled by adjusting the calcination temperature of the precursor nanosheets. When employed as electrocatalysts for OER, the Fe-doped Co3O4 nanosheets derived from Fe-BTC exhibited high performance.
