研究実績の概要 |
To contribute to the LANFOS project we need to adapt space technology from EUSO mission, therefore, in parallel with the planned detector simulations, we took part in the Mini-EUSO assembly and calibration tests, held at RIKEN between Dec 2016 and January 2017, and we also developed the cameras control software to be used during those testing procedures. Moreover, we started to evaluate how carbon-nanotubes sponges can be effective means to remove radiation from water contaminated by Cesium.

理由
all the planned stages for the design and development of the detector have been completed successfully. The partecipation to the integration campaign for the Mini-EUSO experiment was important in this context. Preliminary tests regarding a new water filtration system made using carbon nanotubes has been performed and proved to be promising to remove radioactive Cs.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
We will continue to take part in EUSO related activities in order to transfer space detector technology to the LANFOS project, namely: 1. we will monitor detector on board EUSO-SPB, a NASA super-pressure balloon to be launched in spring 2017, during the flight in order to assess the performances of silicon photomultipliers 2. we will take part in the final assembly of Mini-EUSO, to be launched in fall 2017 Moreover, we will start a series of tests on carbon nanotubes, using carbon nanotube technology to build a filtration system to effectively remove radioactive Cesium from contaminated water.
