研究実績の概要 |
Our research focuses on developing a flexible Interactive Modular Screen System, designed to be adaptable so that it can be attached to a variety of new and existing structures, in a more cost effective and easily maintainable way.
We developed a screen design to achieve a smooth double axis rotational movement. We utilized 3D modeling software in the initial stages of each new prototype before proceeding with in-house fabrication. We utilized stronger materials and more powerful actuators than in previous prototypes, and we integrated LED lighting into the design. We researched professional fabrication options and sought feedback from fabricators in order to evaluate the design for value engineering, and to determine the best methods of production.

理由
We are working with the company Ono-Denki to develop a professionally fabricated prototype. We are making architectural computer models in order to illustrate and test the flexibility and effectiveness of the Screening System with various building types. We are developing the circuits to control the movement of the actuators, and the software to control the coordination of the movement of the screens. We are designing the support system and considering where to install and test the final prototypes.
We have completed an application for a design patent through Tokyo Metropolitan University. In order to protect the intellectual property of the design, we were asked by the patent attorney not to make the design public until the application process was completed.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The next steps during the 2019-20 fiscal year will be as follows: Refine and finalize the details of the professionally fabricated prototype. Develop plans for the module support system (stand). Procure bids for final fabrication of multiple modules. Outsource and oversee the final fabrication. Develop computer graphics to simulate movement and test the effectiveness of the shading. Develop physical architectural models to show how the system could be installed on different building types. Test the movement of the dynamically controlled screens.
