研究実績の概要 |
During this year, we focused on creation of visual contents to be displayed on HMDs and development of real-time spatializers. We developed in Unity an application where small objects, visible or not, arbitrarily located in the proximity of a user, could be pointed using a virtual baton. The system is useful for evaluating spatialization alternatives. We also created scenes where sound sources moved to evaluate dynamic aspects of the spatialization. These programs let us compare the proposed method with standard spatialization methods found in Unity. These comparisons suggest that our method is better in terms of perceived accuracy. We also progressed on WP5 and WP6 with demonstrations in open events, project management meetings, and publication of articles in peer-reviewed conferences.

理由
The continuous effort of the two groups (Human Interface Laboratory-HIL and the Computer Arts Laboratory-CAL) and their periodic communication have been reflected in the smooth progress of the project, arriving to the third year according to the initial plan. Besides the development and evaluation of several sound spatializers, the joined effort of the two laboratories during the second year has been also reflected in the publication of three articles in international peer-reviewed conference proceedings and the submission of two articles to peer-reviewed journals (to be published in 2018).

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Although the scalability of our solution is adequate, we have identified ways to improve the real-time implementation of our solution that we're currently implementing. We're also finishing the documentation of the created software. Once the improvements are finished, new evaluations will be made. Parallel to these activities, we're focused on adjusting articles to be published in peer-reviewed journals. The last months of the project will be dedicated to summarize the project in a memoir, with learned lessons and accomplishments will be published at the end of this year. Local companies in Aizu Wakamatsu dedicated to creating VR contents will be approached for possible integration of SAUND software in their products.
