Analysis of Supply Chain Risk Management in the Japanese Automotive and Electronics Industries

研究実績の概要

The first phase of the research was data collection. To do so, we first finalized the design of the survey method and sent out the questionnaire to the companies/suppliers in the prepared list. We sent the questionnaire to more than 100 companies and so far received the responses from 41 of them.

Then, an initial statistical analysis was performed. We started to test the hypotheses and conducting a cluster analysis that enables us to identify the suppliers who apply instruments of supply chain risk management.

Moreover, we conducted a literature review in order to identify the current developed models on supply chain risks. I invited several other scholars/researchers who have been worked on this field to submit their current findings in order to summarize them in a book. I am now editing the book.
We also published a part of our findings on Automobile industry in a journal early this year.

理由

We have received a bit less responses on the survey than what we expected. But, in order to increase the sample size, we are now collecting more data by sending out the questionnaire to more companies.

今後の研究の推進方策

We are planning to continue the research in the future according to the initial plan. We will continue the survey by collecting more data. By analyzing the collected data, we will identify the possible factors and drivers for supply chain risks apply for the studied companies. We will continue the analysis, hypothesis testing, and cluster analysis to develop a supply chain risk model.
The cluster analysis will enable us to identify the suppliers who apply instruments of supply chain risk management. It also enables us to classify the companies into different groups of the companies employing preventive instruments of supply chain risk management, or the companies focusing on reactive instruments, or the companies with a low supply chain risk management implementation degree.

次年度使用額が生じた理由

300,000 yen of the remaining fund was for my co-investigator. He had a research meeting plan to visit one of our co-authors, Prof. Kamrul Ahsan of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Australia in March to discuss about our research progress, but because of a change in Dr. Ahsan's schedule, the meeting was postponed for future.
Also, the remaining 57,104 yen was my plan to purchase some books, but since I missed the deadline in March, I plan to use it next year.

次年度使用額の使用計画

My co-investigator, Prof. Kainuma is planning to use his remaining amount in the next fiscal year (2017-18). He is planning to have a research meeting with Dr. Kamrul Ahsan, of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT).
Also, I am planning to use my remaining amount (57,104 yen) for purchasing some books in the next fiscal year (2017-18).
