This research-project was conducted aiming to develop a practical guide to CEFR-informed learning, teaching and assessment. It attempts to provide practitioners with CEFR-related resources and tools to implement the CEFR for course design. To design a course, users of the CEFR need to modify scaled illustrative descriptors in principled ways to fit local needs. The modified descriptors become the basis for daily lesson plans, and function as an assessment tool for teacher- and learner self-assessment. In order to do so, practitioners have to gain (1) a basic knowledge of the CEFR and the CEFR/CV, its priciples and philosophy including basic resources mainly provided free by institutions related to the Council of Europe as the ECML (European Center of Modern Languages) and others. (2) How to find, read, analyze and modify can do descriptors related to their courses. (3) How to assess the language activities and the outcome according to the CEFR. (4) How to use the ELP (European Language Portfolio) to foster reflective and autonomous learning. (5) How to use the action oriented approach of the CEFR to use tasks in classroom teaching, bringing together can do descriptors and assessment. Finally (6) how to do professional formation in order to develop and gain teacher autonomy. The research project compiled these results in a book publication already submitted to a publisher. The next step will be to accomplish the proposed online toolkit for teachers.
