| 研究実績の概要 |
During 2018, I was able to concentrate on analysis of the data that I had gathered. I hired a student to input the data from the textbook data I gathered in the US, UK and Ireland. The data had been in raw form, and I purchased Nvivo to facilitate the data input and analysis. I began to analyze the data and am preparing several articles at this point.
In addition, I was able to produce one peer-reviewed article that was a result of some initial work on the research project. While not directly connected to textbooks, it was based on minority issues in Japan, which do impact education. The article is on the new Anti-Buraku discrimination law and was published in the Japan Forum, the British Journal of Japanese Studies.

理由
I am currently analyzing the data and am preparing to interview more people this summer. The work is now at a stager where I feel I can see a structured argument coming into shape and anticipate publishing the findings over the next year or so.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
I had tried to set up interviews last year, but owing to scheduling conflicts, I was not able to do so. I have arranged to go to Ireland and the UK in summer 2019 to gather textual materials along with scheduling more interviews with stakeholders.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
I was not able to arrange a mutual workable time with a number of people I was hoping to interview. In the summer of 2019, I will be traveling to the UK and Ireland to conduct interviews . I will be in London for 4 days (mostly archival work) and in Ireland for 2 weeks, interviewing stakeholders in a variety of locations (large cities and smaller towns).
