研究実績の概要 |
This proposed study is a comparative educational research on how primary school (grades 3 to 6) aged children without disabilities in Cambodia educated in inclusive settings with disabled students would receive effects on raising or improving their social and emotional skills as well as their academic skills. It attempts to hypothesize and contribute to existing theories of educational development to link the practice of inclusive education acting as a key instrument in the formation of dynamic skills related to social and emotional skills and their relationship with academic skills. Evidence suggests that those with more non-cognitive skills are not only productive in further developing non-cognitive skills but more productive in developing cognitive skills than others. It is important that this study is projected for at least four years of primary schooling to observe the progress of skills formation.
In order to accomplish the above proposed research study, the researcher as planned, has mainly conducted field research in a public primary school in Cambodia two times, collecting needed quantitative raw data of school grades of pupils in the 5th grade along with missing data from the previous years including grades 3 to 4 from the academic year 2015 to 2018. To summarize the contents of the school grades, they include school grades from two classes, one class with students with disabilities and the second class with students without disabilities. Moreover, they cover monthly grade rankings, monthly grades by subject and mid-term exams as well as the final exam.

理由
The primary investigator has successfully accomplished to undertake research activities as scheduled and proposed in the research outline. Research activities included mainly field research at the targeted primary school in Cambodia. The first field research took place at the beginning of the fiscal year in order to gather missing data of school grades of primary school children in grades 3 and 4. The second field research took place later in the fiscal year, primarily to collect quantitative raw data of school grades of primary school children in grade 5 as well as to collect qualitative data about the dynamics of skills formation of cognitive and non-cognitive skills mainly through classroom observation. The investigator has also accomplished to prepare all needed field research activities ahead in the fiscal year 2019.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The primary investigator will be completing the final year of this proposed study in the fiscal year 2019. In the coming year ahead, the investigator will finish the field research in Cambodia in August 2019. This month of the academic year for Cambodian primary school children is the final month of the year and the investigator will gather both quantitative and qualitative data from mainly grade 6 students. The tracking of grade 6 students will be the final year to track all students, those with and without disabilities since grade 3 when they first started to learn in inclusive educational settings. The tracking of students for four consecutive years in different patterns either in the form of zero to four years of inclusive education will provide the fundamental basis for analysis of this research study using both quantitative and qualitative methods.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
The main reason as to why an incurring amount remains in the next fiscal year is because the primary investigator was unable to conduct field study in Cambodia as planned in the fiscal year 2017 for health related issues. Additionally, given that the aim of this proposed study is to track students from grade 3 to grade 6 during a period of four consecutive years, the investigator has requested an extended year of research. As such, the incurring amount will be used to complete the final field research in Cambodia targeting grade 6 students in the coming fiscal year 2019. Additionally, the amount will also cover costs related to dissemination of all obtained research results and achievements. The investigator will attempt to develop both short and extended research reports for distribution including all counterparts in Cambodia as well. Furthermore, dissemination to society and members of the public will be made through national and international journal publications and conferences.
