研究実績の概要

- Principal author of a manuscript in Earth and Planetary Science Letters about the formation of Mars. Co-authors: Steve Mojzsis, Soko Matsumura and Shigeru Ida.
- Principal author of a manuscript in Geophysical Research Letters about the nature of the late veneer on Mars and its implications. It was concluded that the HSE abundance in Mars’ mantle indicates it should have been struck by a Ceres-sized object before 4.43 Ga. Co-author: Steve Mojzsis
- Second author on an important manuscript published in Earth and Planetary Science Letters where we investigate the aftermath of a lunar-sized object striking the Earth at around 4.47 Ga. Co-authors: Hidenori Genda and Steve Mojzsis.
- A first-author paper is in review with Geophysical Research Letters that makes use of various elements’ affinity for metal to trace the accretion history of Mars and compare it with that of the Earth. Co-authors: Nicolas Dauphas and Steve Mojzsis.
- Continue ongoing work on the first billion years of bombardment of the terrestrial planets. Collaborators: Steve Mojzsis, Stephanie Werner, Nigel Kelly and Oleg Abramov.
- Working with ELSI Ph.D. student Jason Woo on the formation of Mars and to determine whether simulations can match its unique isotopic composition. A paper on the subject is near completion. Further work on Mars’ origin and evolution is planned for the next few years. We are of the opinion that understanding Mars’ formation and early evolution yields a greater understanding of the inner solar system as a whole. Collaborators: Jason Woo, Soko Matsumura and Shigeru Ida.
