During this first year we have prepared and investigated the structure as well as the properties of novel mixed oxide-nitride perovskite structures. We have reported the structure of ZnTaO2N , a novel LiNbO3 type of structure with the peculiarity of a disordered A site with Zn2+ cations. Unlike other LiNbO3 structures which cristallize in the non-centrosymmetric R3c space group, ZnTaO2N crystallizes in the R-3c space group which is centrosymmetric. The presence of the nitride anion in the structrue is important owing to the fact that oxides with Zn2+ at the A site are usually R3c. Substitution of the Zn site with Mn2+ shows that a 97% substitution is necessary to observe a second harmonic generation signal indicative of the R3c space group.

We have also investigated the preparation of novel B-site ordered oxynitrides perovskites containing magnetic cations using high pressure and high temperature synthesis. The ordering of the different cations and the crystal structures were studied using synchrotron and neutron diffraction. The magnetic properties of the oxynitride have also been studied at low temperature and showed different properties with structurally similar pure oxides. The role of the presence of the nitride anion in the structure has an impact on the magnetic properties.

理由

With the respect to the proposed plan, we have prepared novel structure and investigated their structural and magnetic properties. The report of double perovskite structures is now on the way.

今後の研究の推進方策

We are planning to synthesize novel double perovskites structures using high pressure synthesis along the year. We will investigate the impact of the oxide and nitride ions. The anionic content of the different structure should have an important impact on the magnetic properties and absorption properties of the different structures.

The amount that was not used for the first year because we had enough for purchasing the required items for our research.

次年度使用額の使用計画

We will purchase high pressure cells necessary for high pressure synthesis.
