Achieving optical autocorrelation on silicon photonic chips will renovate conventional free-space-optics-based autocorrelator technologies and enable novel integrated functionalities such as on-chip pulse characterization and monitor. In H29, (1) We demonstrated the accurate autocorrelation measurement of ultrafast optical pulses using silicon p-i-n waveguide and reported its high autocorrelation sensitivity (about 10sub-8 Wsub2) at ECOC2017. (2) Application limitation and measurement accuracy were analyzed by FDTD method. Free carrier effect is the dominant reason to induce accuracy degradation for high pulse power; while for sub-Watt pulses, >0.13 picoseconds pulse can be measured correctly, which is determined by group dispersion. (3) The monolithically integrated autocorrelator was designed and being fabricated.
