Linkages between urban and rural Mexican-American environmentalism were uncovered. These linkages were found in visual culture and writing. These linkages helped clarify land loss (primitive accumulation) and helped expand upon how "time-images" are used in Mexican-American environmental visual culture. Special attention has been paid to how Mexican-American culture has affected visual culture about the environment. This research yielded two peer reviewed articles (one published, one in press). The findings show how Mexican-American environmentalist discourse has changed in different eras. The research has further incorporated data about linkages to other ethnic groups such as Central American immigrants.
