研究概要

ヒトやサカナなどの脊椎動物は、そのゲノムサイズが大きく変わっている。ヒトゲノムサイズが3x 10^9塩基対であるのに、硬骨魚類のメダカはその四分の1(800Mb)、フグは八分の一(400Mb)しか持っていない。この課題ではとくにメダカLG22染色体のDNA一次配列をBAC clone配列コンテイグ法によって決定し、フグのLG22と比較し、両者のゲノムサイズが何によって変化しているかを決定した。その結果、コードされる遺伝子は両者にほとんど差がなく、両者のゲノムサイズの差は多数の反復配列の存在量の差であることが判明した。
