研究概要

腸管出血性大腸菌(EHEC)と関連する腸管病原菌のゲノム解析及びゲノム情報に基づいた発現・機能の解析を行った。その結果、O157 EHEC迅速菌株識別システムの開発と3種のnon-O157 EHECのゲノム解読に成功したほか、これらの腸管病原菌が有するIII型分泌系を中心とした病原性発現システムの機能および多様化・進化のメカニズムに関する理解が大きく進んだ。さらに、腸内フローラの比較メタゲノム解析によって、成人と乳児の腸内フローラの違いを解明するとともに、難培養菌を含む腸内フローラ構成菌種(3菌種・4株)のゲノム解読に成功した。
