本課題研究では,数式や図・表など特殊表記を多く含むPDF科学文書をバリアフリー化するための視覚障害者用インターフェースを研究開発した。このインターフェースはPDF科学文書の内容を解析・認識し,その結果を視覚障害者が利用可能な内部形式に変換して,それらを音声や点字として出力する。システムの操作を視覚障害者が行う上で必要なユーティリティや触読図製作用ソフトウェア,英語版インターフェースの製作等も行った。
