研究実績の概要 |
Water resources planners are challenged with the formulation of strategies for the effective management of water resources under changing climate and rising human population, while maintaining the health of aquatic ecosystems at an acceptable level. For that purpose projections of catchment-scale climate and water resources at a daily time step are required. This JSPS project investigates on producing improved projections of future likely climate at a daily time step and hence quantification of impacts of changing climate on the availability of flows to the environment considering a case study of the Sagami River basin in Japan. So far, in this project, a new statistical modelling algorithm has been developed and tested extensively (considering the current study area and the whole of Japan). It has been observed that this new algorithm is capable of developing more stable models and it runs much faster than the traditional algorithm on which it is based. A paper has been submitted to an international journal based on these findings.

The paper that was submitted to an international journal has received two sets of major comments. In order to address these comments some additional investigations are required. Hence, significant amount of time is being invested on addressing these comments.

The outcomes of this work will be published in international journals and the journal papers will be made open access.
