研究実績の概要 |
At the end of the previous fiscal year, in March, Pierre’s paper about the Hall effect had been submitted and we had received the referee report which suggested some modifications. Pierre had to run additional simulations, and he resubmitted the paper in late June. The paper was accepted in late July. Pierre was able to present it during September and March in various locations (France, USA, Canada). At this time, after publication, we discovered a method that significantly improves the results of the previous paper. Currently, the first draft of a new paper is ready and he is waiting for the comments from co-authors. In the meanwhile, he almost completed the analysis of his binary star formation simulations. He is currently writing the first draft of the paper, which focuses on the influence of several parameters on the regulation of the angular momentum during the proto-stellar collapse (namely, the mass, the thermal support and the chemical properties of the gas).

理由
Globally, Pierre’s progress is slower than expected on some points (e.g. the binary star formation simulations), but he also had unexpected good results. A large part of his time from October to February was taken by the new method concerning the Hall effect. The need for additional simulations, analysis, and paper writing delayed his other projects, but these new results were unexpected and are extremely positive. In his binary star formation simulations, Pierre discovered interesting properties about the influence of chemistry on proto-stellar outflows. It required additional work and a delayed the conclusion due to the analysis of these simulations, but the results are very interesting and will increase the impact of the subsequent article.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The first draft of a second paper about the Hall effect is now finished. Pierre will review and correct it with the help of his co-authors and submit it, probably in the next few weeks. He will also keep analyzing the binary star formation simulations. We have discovered a bi-modality in the outflows launched by the young protostar. This is a very interesting and unique result and we need further investigation of a few weeks to determine the cause of the discrepancy. A first draft of this study should be written by September. In the meantime, his parametric study of protostellar fragmentation, using self-consistent non-ideal MHD resistivities, as well as radiation-hydrodynamics, will continue running. Their integration take a long time, but I will be able to start analyzing at the same time.
