研究実績の概要 |
In 2018 I published five papers related to this study in international journals, three at the Journal of Biomechanics (IF=2.431), one at Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport (IF=3.929), and one at the Journal of Sports Sciences (IF=2.733). Two additional papers have been accepted for publication at international journals.
In 2018 I was invited to give two seminars, one at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, and one at the World Congress on Biomechanics in Dublin, Ireland. I have also been asked to give two invited talks in 2019, one at the CRoNoS Meeting & Workshop on Multivariate Data Analysis in Limassol, Cyprus, and one at the XXVII Congress of the International Society of Biomechanics in Calgary, Canada. Additionally, I gave regular oral presentations at three international conferences, and through research collaborators I presented this project’s work at two other international conferences.
Last, in 2018 I was honored with an Adjunct Senior Lecturer position at the University of Western Australia, School of Human Sciences for a period of three years, mainly to carry out research activities associated with this project.

理由
Part of the research is progressing slower than expected and part of it is progressing faster than planned. Experimental work involving kinematics progressed somewhat slow due to complex movement variablity, and the associated difficulties with accurate measurement. Because of the measured large-magnitude, complex three-dimensional movement variability, my research collaborators and I have had to focus on simpler movements than planned, so have dedicated most of our time to well-controlled experimental conditions involving robot-driven passive motion.
Nevertheless, I have made better-than-expected progress in software developments. Those developments have resulted in two papers that have been accepted for publication at international journals.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
In the third and final fiscal year of this project I will, as planned, begin to apply the proposed three-dimensional analysis software to the experimental data that research collaborators and I collected during the first two years of this study. In particular, we will attempt to improve the accuracy of our measurements using the MRI images that we collected in Year 2. If analyses are successful, and if we have sufficient time remaining this academic year, we will attempt, as planned, to continue experimentation on non-passive movements (i.e., active movements). We intend to target at moderate-to-high impact journal to publish the ultimate results of this project.
