研究実績の概要 |
In 2017, I have published a paper at the Nagoya University Multidisciplinary Journal. The paper explains the motivation for the reasoning theory as well as the overall mechanism underlying the construction approach to building a logical argument. In addition to the paper, I gave a featured presentation titled “Change in Academic Writing Education” at the Asian Conference on Education in 2017. The presentation justifies the need for a constructive and practical education in logical thinking for graduate students in the context of research writing. I also attended an international conference on education at the university of Cambridge in 2017 to collect useful advices on the project from a wide range of scholars on education.

理由
As a practical part of the research plan, currently I am working with the co-investigators of this project, Kazuhisa Todayama (kenkyu-buntansha), Nicolas Baumert (renkei-kenkyusha), Chad Nilep (renkei-kenkyusha), and Mark Weeks (renkei-kenkyusha) to understand how the theory could be beneficial to graduate students in writing and presenting a research paper. The research collaboration will be presented through a paper that we are writing together.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
According to the research plan, the central research goal in 2018 is to establish the theoretical foundation for the construction studies of reasoning, by demonstrating that it is theoretically possible for the construction of a logical argument to be carried out from the argument’s conclusion to its supporting premises.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Two reasons for the incurring amount: First, I did not buy the books that I was planning to buy in 2017. Second, I was planning two domestic conference trips but I only went to one. I am planning to use the money carried over for inviting a specialist on logic studies to give a talk at Nagoya University in 2018.
