| 研究実績の概要 |
土着の伝統の再構築と愛国意識の関連性を分析するにあたり、古期アイルランド語の伝説「スウィーニーの狂気」の翻案作品を網羅的に視野に入れ、これらの読解を進めてきた。2020 年度はとりわけ現代アイルランドを舞台とした作品に集中し、精読した。
アイルランド語をアイルランド人のアイデンティティの要だとはみなしていない作家、Dermot Bolgerも「スウィーニーの狂気」に注目し、伝説を下敷きにした小説A Second Lifeを発表している。Bolger のアイルランド語の伝統への両義的な心境を読み解き、論文を完成させた。Paula Meehanの戯曲Mrs. Sweeneyは、伝説の王Sweeney の妻に光を当てた作品として異彩を放っている。この独創的な劇の分析に基づいた論文をほぼ完成した。さらに、「土着の伝統の変容と愛国意識」という観点に基づいた作品分析、研究成果を集大成し、著書にまとめるための編集作業に入った。現段階では次のような構成を想定し、さらに加筆を続ける予定である。
