研究実績の概要 |
In 2020, we presented the results of the first part of the data collection at a conference in Hong Kong. This data involved subjects giving the same speech twice, followed by a self-transcription grammar awareness activity, and then followed with giving the speech another two times a week later. The results of this part of the study were that subjects did, in fact, tend to correct the grammar errors they noticed in the intervening activity, during their later iterations of the speech, while maintaining the gains in fluency that have been typical of the 4/3/2 activity in previous research. The second part of the data collection involved subjects giving the same 2-minute speech two times. For the experimental group, the subjects listened to their first speech and did a grammar awareness activity in between the two iterations of the speech. This was contrasted with a control group that did not do the grammar awareness activity. This data has been transcribed and is in the process of being analyzed. Furthermore, it was planned to discuss this data with other experts in fluency research at the 2020 conference of the International Association of Applied Linguistics. However, this conference was rescheduled to 2021 due to the corona virus.
