研究実績の概要 |
The second year involved gathering all of the data for the study. This large project included fourteen separate classroom observations, along with multiple surveys and repeated measures of English speaking proficiency. Proficiency was measured using online Versant speaking tests. We also interviewed students as part of the qualitative data for our study. We organized and trained a transcriber who began the process of transcribing the spoken data. We conducted a provisional analysis of our data and prepared a paper will be presented at the Self-Determination Conference in May 2019. We have also begun writing papers that will be submitted to international journals throughout 2019.

理由
Due to the rigorous planning and preparation in the first year of the project, the data collection went smoothly and according to plan. An additional data collection point was added at the end of the study in order to provide insights into the delayed effects of the treatment.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The research was carefully planned from the outset and this has greatly aided the smooth progress we were able to achieve in the first year. No unforeseen obstacles arose. We were also aided by the fact that both researchers work in the same department of the same university and therefore regular weekly meetings ensured that were able to meet our research goals consistently. Also clearly defined roles for each researcher meant that work was shared appropriately and in a timely manner.

For this next fiscal year we will incur the following expenses. A research assistant for continuing transcription. Travel expenses for international conferences. Preparation of materials for conferences.
