研究実績の概要 |
In 2018, I video linked with the following universities: Taiwan's Fu-Jen Catholic university ( 4 times), Universidad San Ignacio Loyola, Peru (4 times),ESAN university, Peru (4 times). Those 12 links concerned cross-cultural understanding between Japan and the other nation, and were an elective course for around 20 students. My seminar students also worked on content-based links with Krosno State College, Poland (3 times), and East Carolina University U.S ( twice). My partner in Poland is an English philology professor and so our links concerned language teaching and language differences. My partner in the US is a drama teacher and so our links concerned theatre education, kagura, Japanese myths, and folktales. In addition, my seminar students linked asynchronously to better understand cultural differences between the US and Japan. A small group of volunteer students linked with Ural State Pedagogical University, Russia (once) to present about voluntary work in both countries. Thanks to my links with Global Partners in Education, I was able to facilitate a face-to-face visit from a partner university in Nigeria in March 2019. I attended a week-long CLIL seminar at the University of Stirling in September 2018 and wrote a paper about video-linking and CLIL for J-CLIL, which was recently published.

理由
I have been able to find very reliable video linking partners in the US and Poland. We are working on content links together such as explaining Japanese performing arts with ECU's Theater majors in the US, and Japanese and Polish language with Krosno State College, Poland. I have also identified partners for my university's medical campus and I am working on setting up content-based links for midwives. I am now trying to incorporate video linking into my faculty's new curriculum for content classes team taught with Japan-based EFL teachers and US-based content teachers. I have also set up a club for students who like to video link with overseas students without taking a class, and we are linking every few months on a set topic with a partner university. My experience has also led to a Korean language colleague also video-linking with one of our Korean partners.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
This year I will video link with partners in Taiwan and Peru four times each, and arrange video links with Columbia and Peru to discuss the health care system and famous women in history respectively. My students are also working asynchronously for a 4-week link with Peru to facilitate cross-cultural competence. I will visit Colombia in May to participate in the Global Partners in Education conference to find new linking partners and promote further collaboration between language professors in Japan and content teachers overseas.I will visit high schools in the Netherlands in September to observe CLIL classes as part of the J-CLIL seminar group. In addition, I will continue with my links with Krosno in Poland and ECU in the US, and bring my partner teachers to Japan in October to conduct face-to-face workshops for local students and teachers. My bid to host Global Partners in Education conference in 2020 was successful, and I am preparing for this international education conference in Shimane, the first time the conference will be held in Japan.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
In 2019, I will invite two video-linking partners to work face-to-face with my students and to conduct workshops with local language teachers. I will also attend two overseas conferences ( Global Partners in Education in Colombia, and J-CLIL in the Netherlands). These trips are necessary to deepen the links between my university and the overseas institutions, and to promote video linking and CLIL in Japan.
