During the past year (April 2021-March 2022) I have continued to remain up-to-date with post-Brexit developments and issues tied to debates surrounding the future of European integration. My primary focus, during the past year, has been on the on-going debate concerning the continuing evolution of the European political parties (Europarties). This includes Europarty-related proposals emerging from the citizen-led Conference on the Future of Europe; the European parliamentary debate and vote on the implementation of pan-European ‘transnational lists’ for the 2024 European elections; and the continuing debate about strengthening the role and significance of the Europarties via amendments to the EU rules/regulations governing them. In June 2021, I gave a presentation (online) to the annual conference Japan Comparative Politics Association entitled: ‘EUレベルにおけるトランスナショナル代表デモクラシーの構築と欧州政党（ユーロ政党）の役割. Last year's monograph (co-written with Prof. Masayuki Rikihisa) on Brexit was reviewed in the Nihon Keizai Shimbun in April. [see https://www.nikkei.com/article/DGKKZO71073640W1A410C2MY6000/]. In October, I gave a presentation (online) about Populism and the UK to the Brown University Alumni Society (Japan). Towards the end of the year, I was asked to provide a back-jacket and inside cover review for a newly published monograph entitled 'European Political Parties and Party Finance Reform: Funding Democracy?'
