I presented research findings on campus design in higher education marketisation, a key project focus, at the 2023 International Place branding Association conference in Helsingborg. Desk research continued to follow closely the ‘moving target’ of higher education policy shifts towards the international education market post-pandemic. Analysis has focused in particular on the Australian case in comparative perspective. Developments in the shrinking domestic Japanese market for HE were also explored. My post-project publishing and reporting strategy is evolving, given the rapid changes in the policy landscape, fresh debates about the role of the campus after the disruptions of ubiquitous online learning during the pandemic, and Ai disruption that is a counterweight to digital optimism.
