Through research trips to Beijing,Shanghai,Nanjing,Hong Kong,Taipei,and Washington.I was able interview Chinese and non-Chinese scholars as to their interpretations and perceptions of Japanese foreign policy under PM ABE.These activities include conferences,seminars and small discussions groups to gain clearer understanding of the diversity of views on Japanese foreign policy toward China and the region. Analysis of exchanges suggests that China's perceptions of foreign policy under PM Abe are seen through three levels:1)the changing nature of US-China relations and Japan's partnership with the US;2)PM Abe's political lineage; and 3)Japan's relationship with the US.
