Cognitive Schemata in Experienced Negotiators: A Comparison Across Cultures, Industries, and Skill Levels

研究実績の概要

Data was collected in 2018 on some parts of the target population through surveys in Japanese and English. Approximately 70 surveys were collected from Indian software industry members, an addition to the main target population of Japan and Northern Europe. This addition to the target population will allow a broader and more informative set of comparisons.
In 2018 additional interviews of high achieving negotiators with business experience in Japan were completed. These are cross culturally adept individuals with a history of successful cross cultural experience - this included mostly Japanese but also non-Japanese experiences. Academic Year 2018 interviews included a General Counsel of a multinational firm in Tokyo, a former ambassador, a former trade negotiator, and a former business founder in Europe with business ties to Japan, among others.

理由

Japan and Finland despite constant outreach efforts and the enlistment of new partners. In AY 2019 these efforts should bear more fruit.
Further efforts and alliances are being explored now to collect data in Northern Europe especially.
A large amount of data was collected in India among the target population with the support of the personal network of the lead investigator.

今後の研究の推進方策

An alliance is being developed with researchers including Dr. Matti Muhos at University of Oulu, Finland. This should lead to additional surveys completed among the target audience.
New opportunities for survey collection are being explored with a researcher at University of Vienna, Dr. Michele Griessmair.

次年度使用額が生じた理由

In this current Financial Year I will travel to Europe and North America for data collection, planning and discussion with co-researchers, and for presenting my work at other research institutions. If sufficient data is collected, I will invite Dr. Michele Griessmair to travel to Kyoto to finalize analysis of the work.
