研究実績の概要 |
This research is a sociological study of wine tourism. It aims to examine how wine tourism is constructed as a cultural practice. The year of 2017 is the first year of this project. As it is scheduled, I conducted exploratory ethnographic research on wine tourism in Japan, China, and Australia. These fieldwork aimed to see what kind of cultural experience have been produced in the practices of wine tourism. The data show that the models of practicing wine tourism have global similarities. However, this does not mean that the wine tourism as a global culture is standardized. Rather, the global model of wine tourism expresses national, regional, local, and indigenous identity of culinary culture. In other words, cultural tradition in the local contexts are represented in the globally shared concepts and values of wine tourism.

理由
I finished all of the tasks scheduled for this year. This first year research also points out the direction of research in the second year.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The findings of the first year are important for the research in the following years. As a comparative study, the ultimate purpose of this research is to contribute to the understanding of Japanese wine tourism in the local and global contexts. Based on findings in the first year, it is clear that the practice of Japanese wine tourism should be seen as part of global wine culture with localized experience. So, in the second year of this project, I will focus ethnography on Japan. I will conduct fieldwork in Japanese wineries, wine tourism agencies, local governments to figure out how they construct wine tourism.
|
次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
I saved money as much as possible in the first year for conducting fieldwork in Japan in the second year. Fieldwork in Japan will be significant to the entire project. It is assumed to be an intensive work. So, I will also need research assistants for transcribing interviews, which is assumed to be costly.
