研究実績の概要 |
As wine tourism is growing in Japan in the past two years, I expanded fieldwork framework to include Kumamoto, Yizu, and Nagano, besides Yamanashi, in order to have a comprehensive understanding of current development of wine tourism in Japan. My fieldwork shows that wine tourism in Japan is not a singular form. In general, three forms of wine tourism in Japan, including wine festival, organized-group wine tours, and individual wine tourism. These current forms are also prevalent forms of wine tourism in Australia, China, and France, where I also conducted fieldwork in last and this academic year. The comparison of wine tourism in Japan and the other counterparts shows that the common cultural experience in wine tourism in the three contexts are the learning about the local and national history of winemaking and the current philosophy of current winemaking. These cultural values (or cultural experience to the tourists) are essential to the development of wine tourism.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
In 2019, I will conduct fieldwork in Japan, focusing on new wine tourism regions, such as Yamagata. I will also do follow-up fieldwork in Nagano. I will also review current literature on wine tourism in the overseas to provide an overall picture of what wine tourism is going on outside Japan.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
I left some money for conducting fieldwork and attending conference in the fiscal year of 2019, as the planned budget for 2019 was too less. International acdemic exchanges are significant to understanding the on-going development of wine tourism abroad. My paper was accepted by the international conference "UNESCO WINE: The FIRST INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC CONFERENCE ON WINE CONSUMPTION AND MARKET IN ASIA." I will travel to Hong Kong to give a presentation. I am also applying international conferences. Besides, I will also need to conduct fieldwork in Japan, for example, I have planned a fieldwork to Yamagata in June, 2019.
