The implementation of the research activities in the financial year 2018 was successfully completed. As per planned, the survey was conducted in rural India and Vietnam by using the structural household questionnaire. For India, 150 sample number of households were selected, and targeted the rice crop affected by the drought prone villages in Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam districts of Andhra Pradesh. An overall of 150 households were collected in the southern part of rural Vietnam, predominantly, the areas which are frequently disturbed by salt intrusion in dry season especially in the rice dominants communes of Bac Lieu, Soc Trang provinces. One of the key outcomes from these household survey specifies that the farmers prefer to adopt new management techniques/practices to reduce yield gaps under different situations such as drought, flooding and lowlands (salt intrusion). Remarkably, our rice crop experiments, which we established at farmers’ fields with support of High Agricultural Technology Research Institute (HATRI) in Vietnam; Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IITK); and National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) in India were provide an opportunity to nearby farmers to understand the potential management practices for improving their crop yields. For instance, the simulation results of crop experiment conducted at Vietnam reveals that the suitable nutrients level (fertilizer utilization efficiency) of each rice cultivar contributes to enhance farmers income and maintain a sustainable soil water environment in this region.
