研究概要

細胞は、刺激に伴って形態を変え、接着したり、移動したり、分裂したりする。これらの過程で細胞内のスイッチとして働いているのがRhoという蛋白質である。本研究では、Rhoとその下流の経路の細胞と個体での役割を解析した。その結果、この経路が、細胞の移動や分裂で働いている仕組みが解明され、この仕組みが、神経が正常に分布したり、血管が正常に発生するのに必須であること、また,癌細胞ではこの仕組みががん遺伝子産物に利用され癌化に働くことが明らかとなった。
