研究概要

現在のチタンの量産プロセスであるクロール法は、原料としてTiCl_4を利用するため還元プロセスにおける反応熱が非常に大きく、最新鋭の大型設備を用いても生産速度が非常に遅い。さらに、プロセスの連続化が困難で、反応容器から鉄などの汚染の防御も困難である。現行のチタンの製造プロセスが抱える本質的な問題からの脱却を目指し、マグネシウム熱還元法を基盤にチタンの低級塩化物を原料として用いる新しいタイプの高速還元法の開発を行った。
