本研究では、ラフ集合の特長を生かしてデータマイニングツールを構築し、ツールを多様な表データ(広くはデータベース)に適用し、価値ある情報(具体的には相関ルールと呼ばれる含意式「ある条件が成立する場合に、特定の状況が恒常的に起きる」)の獲得支援を行った。特に、大規模な場合分けが生じる非決定情報表に対して従来のアプリオリアルゴリズムを拡張し、場合分けの数が10の100乗を超えるような情報の不完全性を有する非決定情報表からも相関ルールの取り出しが瞬時にできることを確認した。本手法は不完全情報に基づくデータマイニングの新たな枠組みになると考えられる。
