研究概要

本研究の主たる目的は、10年前に収集した既存の「パラオ日本語」のデータおよび今回新たに収集したデータを用い、「共時的・通時的」両分析を行いながら、言語衰退・消滅の言語内的・言語外的諸要因を定量的に明らかにすることである。この分析手法は、変異理論を中心とした社会言語学の研究において注目されており、「パラオ日本語」の衰退・消滅のメカニズムを解明するうえで有益なだけではなく、社会言語学で一般的に用いられている共時的分析の妥当性の検証、さらに言語衰退・消滅といった比較的新しい研究分野における調査方法論の構築にも資するものである。
