We will produce layer-by-layer motif architectures through confined soft-template self-assembly in layered materials (as explained in detail in Figure 2). Precursor of mesoporous layer (e.g. resol and tetrabutyl titanate) and copolymer unimers (e.g. Brij 58, P123, F127) are firstly introduced into the interlayer of 2D materials (e.g. MXene, MoS2, VOPO4, graphene). 2D ordered micelle@precursor will then be formed through evaporation induced self-assemble (EISA) route. Importantly, the final pore structure and pore dimensions can be controlled by the polymer characteristics (e.g. length and ratio between the unimers) and EISA parameters (e.g. water concentration, precursor/unimer ratio and evaporation kinetics). The 2D-2D heterostructure constructed by 2D ordered materials thin layer intercalated within the original 2D interlayer spaces will be obtained by calcination.
