末端機能化法に基づく刺激応答性セルロースナノクリスタルの開発とその生物医学的応用

研究実績の概要

The microfluidic device was fabricated for continuous production of Cellulose Nanocrystals (CNCs) on silica wafers through lithography techniques with three different designs of T-shape, Y-shape, and concentric circles. The efficiency of the device was analyzed by passing the acid solutions and cellulose suspension require for CNC production. In second project, we developed functionalized nanocellulose (NC) based composites using plant-derived and microbial source through sustainable and greener routes for their potential application as high-performance composites. The main aim of the project is to utilize different types of such waste lignin derivatives such as alkali lignin (AL) and chemically modified cationic lignin (Catlig) as a precursor to NC bioprocessing. This work demonstrates a unique approach of utilizing lignin, as a smart additive to in situ BC fermentation in which it concurrently acts as a promoter to microbial growth as well as reinforcing filler for fabrication of multifunctional composites. In third project, we have used Hinoki wood in our research and have developed a novel approach for production of delignified wood (DW) with the retention of their interesting multi-scale hierarchical micro-architecture. Further, a strategic chemical modification of DW has been carried out to develop transparent wood, which finds potential applications in different sectors have been applied for patent.
