ALMA-IMF: ALMA Transforms the View of the Origin of Stellar Masses

研究実績の概要

As planned, during the first fiscal year we focused on the data quality assurance and calibration. The observations of the 3 fields assigned to the Japanese team (and East Asia team) had no particular problem and data calibration was smooth.

We have already started the preparation of science products and early analysis. We have made a classification of the brightest IR-dark cores based on the presence of hot core lines and outflow emission. We have discovered some high-mass prestellar candidates, which are particularly important for testing theories of high-mass star formation. We have also found complex filamentary structures that define hub-like systems. These findings have been presented in conferences and analysis techniques and tools that will be used have been published in articles.

理由

The data verification and calibration was carried out on time as expected. While preparing the enhanced data and science-ready products, scientific discussion is going on.

Early results have been presented in conferences and analysis plans have been successfully applied in other projects, guaranteeing success once they are applied in ALMA-IMF (prestellar-protostellar distinction and filaments analysis).

今後の研究の推進方策

During this second fiscal year we will make enhanced data products by applying self-calibration to the observed mosaics. We will continue the preparation of the first publication from the Japanese team. We will first focus on the G10.62 field that shows a complex network of filaments and over 50 cores. The analysis will be supported by observations of the magnetic field.
