新原生代クーンガ造山帯の岩石学的・年代学的精密解析からみたゴンドワナ超大陸の形成

研究実績の概要

４年目である本年度は、繰越期間である2022年にザンビア西部のLundaziおよびChipata周辺、2023年にマラウイ中部のJendaおよびMchinji周辺の調査を行い、本研究の実施に必要な岩石試料を入手した。また、すでに採集済みの南部アフリカおよびインドなどの変成岩・火成岩類を研究対象として、クーンガ造山帯の広範囲から得られた高度変成岩について、岩石学的・年代学的研究を実施し、ゴンドワナ大陸の形成プロセスの検討を行った。また、南部アフリカにみられるより古い時代の造山帯や、日本列島にみられる1億年前よりも新しい造山帯の岩石にも研究対象を広げ、クーンガ造山帯との比較を行なった。特にザンビアに分布する約5~6億年前のクーンガ造山帯については、２回の変成作用のイベントを確認し、初期のものをプレートの沈み込みに伴う変成作用、後期のものを大陸衝突にともなう変成作用とした。また、南部アフリカ・リンポポ岩体の珪岩に含まれる砕屑性ジルコンの年代の研究により、ジンバブエクラトンとカープバールクラトンの衝突によるカラハリクラトンの形成が、約26~27億年前というこれまでの有力な説を支持する結果を得た。ジンバブエのマゴンディ造山帯の研究では、今まではこの地域は20億年前の大陸衝突によって形成されたと考えられていたが、モナザイト年代分析の結果、局地的に10億年前の変成作用を受けており、この原因をローレンシアクラトンの衝突によるものと考えた。さらに、筑波山および阿武隈山地にみられる白亜紀の深成岩体の地球化学的・年代学的研究により、前者は下部地殻の溶融により、後者は初生的なマグマの結晶分化によって形成されたとした。以上のような研究の成果として、査読付き国際雑誌への論文掲載23件がある。
