| 研究実績の概要 |
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has not been possible to collect any data this year. Collecting eye-tracking data requires participants and researchers to be in close proximity and it is difficult to achieve a suitable social distance. We have however managed to write up previously collected data and publish one paper in the international peer-reviewed journal, Reading Matrix (Online research strategies of L2 readers: Evaluating strategic competence through mixed methods) and have another in press in the peer-reviewed journal, TESOL Quarterly (Evaluating the Vocabulary Coping Strategies of L2 Readers: An Eye Tracking Study). We have presented online at American Association of Applied Linguistics 2021.

理由
COVID-19 has been the reason we are delayed. It has not been possible to collect data.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
We have two studies planned and are hoping we will be able to collect data from students in the near future. Whether we can collect data in time to write up and publish anything before the end of the research period depends a lot on the COVID-19 pandemic and state of emergency being lifted.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
COVID-19 stopped us attending conferences and doing research, and if the situation improves, we would like to use funds to buy necessary software and equipment for our research and attend conferences.
