研究実績の概要 |
I managed to enlist volunteer families from Japan and the UK who may be interested in participating in this longitudinal project. In addition, I created initial family case studies and collect data based on questionnaires, interviews, observations and home visits. I also put together a survey of how CLIL is used in Japan and the UK for heritage education and supplementary schools and teacher and student expectations and teaching philosophy. Procedures are now in place to examine teaching methodology employed within supplementary schools in Japan and the UK. Presented preliminary findings at academic conferences in Japan.

理由
This project depends on the availability of people and institutions and in some cases it has been difficult arranging times to meet people and visit schools and some arrangements have been postponed until the current academic year. However, I do not see any problems in the new academic year. Due to work commitments in non-teaching periods I was unable to go to England to conduct interviews and school visits and these have been done online for the time being.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Continue the longitudinal study done in FY2018 with the family case studies in Japan and the UK. Create initial family case studies and collect data based on questionnaires, interviews, observations and home visits. Create language proficiency tests for the bicultural bilingual childrenVisit supplementary schools such as ICBA branches in the UK and Tokyo and interview teachers. Design and implement linguistic experiments to see if a transition can be made from BICS to CALP within heritage language learners.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Due to work commitments in the non-teaching periods I was unable to travel to the UK to conduct research there and that is why I did not spend all of the money last year and will carry it over into the following year.
