研究実績の概要 |
Based on preliminary findings I presented at national conferences within Japan. I was also invited to present on CLIL at Miyagi University and on heritage language and CLIL at a J-CLIL research meeting. I also published a full peer reviewed paper with the J-CLIL journal based on the findings from a supplementary school in England and a proceedings paper with the JSLS. I organized a CLIL symposium and the J-CLIL Tohoku chapter conference where I also presented data based on the data collected for this research project. I gathered data from teachers, parents and their children through online questionnaires and interviews and I am currently analyzing it. I have also made valuable connections with academic associations who have agreed to help me with this research project.

理由
Due to the coronavirus outbreak my planned visits to schools, meeting families and their children was postponed. Conferences I was due to present at were also cancelled. I did however, manage to do some Zoom meetings and consultations wherever possible and I think this is what I will also do in the current academic year as well. I will therefore, have to adapt my research approach in accordance with health and travel considerations.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus I have had to adapt how I will conduct this research in the future especially as we are still in the midst of the pandemic and the practice of social distancing. The following is a list of things I am in negotiation to do. Create an online workshop with teachers across the world who teach heritage languages. Create a forum / training for teachers who teach second languages as a heritage language. Create an online CLIL teacher training workshop. Work with academic associations both in the UK and Japan on this research project. Visit schools or interview teachers online and through questionnaires. Look into the possibility of syllabus design at a heritage language school.
