研究実績の概要 |
This research project continues to progress very well, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, which have disrupted travel plans and made the process more difficult than under normal circumstances. Progress continues to be made towards the future publication of a monograph on the history of the Sea of Okhotsk area. During 2021, three presentations were made of the research, including for the World History Association's annual conference and the Association for East Asian Environmental Historians Conference. Work also continues as guest editor for a special edition in a very prestigious world history journal, which will be published in early 2023. The principal investigator continues to present his research to a wide variety of audiences in the world history field, including at the Intercultural Research Institute conference, which he has been presenting at each year. This grant has opened the door to many other research possibilities, and the principal investigator plans to continue to utilize the grant as fully as possible in expanding his publications about the research topic. He also did an academic book review during this fiscal year for a prestigious journal which is involved in history pedagogy.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The 2022 fiscal year will continue to be a busy one for the project, with progress going forward on the research. Work continues to collect sources for the future monograph and to continue the research and writing process associated with that monograph. There is also a forthcoming 2022 journal article connected to the research in current preparation.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
I hope that the pandemic will allow for some travel in the 2022 fiscal year, though it is recognized that there are still many restrictions in place connected with the pandemic, such as restrictions on the entry to research libraries. Therefore, most of the research funds in 2022 will likely be used for ordering books or copies of articles or through interlibrary loan. There may also be equipment purchases to make in 2022.
